Amanda is a Registered Licensed Social Worker and has been working in the helping profession for the past 20 years. Amanda has an undergrad degree with a major in Psychology from the University of Manitoba and a Certificate in Marriage and Family Theory from the University of Winnipeg Aurora Therapy Centre. Amanda has worked for a variety of agencies within addictions, mental health, child protection and LGBTQIA-specific counselling. Amanda works from a holistic, client centered and strength-based approach. She uses various approaches such as Mindfulness, Motivational Counselling, Solution Focused, and Cognitive Behavioral techniques, tailoring therapeutic interventions to each individual person.
Amanda believes that every person is an expert of their own story and feels honoured to be able to walk alongside clients in their journey. She offers a space that is safe and inclusive to allow clients to heal, explore and find their authentic selves. Since Amanda was a child, dogs have always played a huge role in her life. Amanda has always known the tremendous therapeutic value that dogs can have in the lives of others. Amanda brings to her practice a Certified Therapy Dog named Kailua.
